In the last news snippet we briefly mentioned that the expired auction for Toxic.com was taking place.

The final bid came to $56,500. Whether this price is justifiable depends on the winning bidder's plans. From a domainers perspective, particularly a reseller's point-of-view, paying $56,500 would not leave much margin for profit.

Ad.com sells for $1.4 million! The domain was sold at Moniker's live auction in Santa Clara, California.

Another good domain, Toxic.com, is going to be auctioned on NameJet later today.

We are buying 'quote' & 'quotes' domains. Relating to copying the words of another person and not stating a price for a product or service. Only in the .com extension.

Please contact us if you have a domain that fits this criteria.

WebCam.com sells for a cool $1.02 million! That's $1,020,000 for those who are not fans of decimals.

The domain was sold at Rick Latona's live auction. A remarkable sale in these difficult times which will no doubt boost the domain market. If not, it should definately with gaining exposure from outside the domaining community.

Posing.com was also sold, a real bargain at $2,000.

GoDaddy customers should be wary of phishing emails that have been sent out recently.

The email purports that someone has unsuccessfully tried to access your GoDaddy account numerous times.

You'll notice that by hovering over the links in the email, they do not point towards GoDaddy.com.

The well known domain registrar Register.com is experiencing website troubles as of late.

If you're a Register.com customer you would have no doubt already received countless updates explaining their situation.

The problem was due to some malicious person (or competitor) doing DOS attacks on their website. It now appears that they have the website up and running again. Hopefully they will fix their other problem - registration costs.

Most of the domain news circulating this week is about the new .tel extension.

As with every new extension, you will find a cacophony of hypers, giving you all the sales spiel but no actual clear positives on why you should invest.

Who's to blame? Most likely the creators of .tel, who also don't seem to know the true purpose of the .tel extension (beyond lining their pockets).

Body.com sells for $400,000 on Sedo. Wow!

One would think that with a price tag like that, Body.com would be a revenue generating website. But, no, it's a parked page.

Some businesses are getting adventurous with their domains, particularly in advertising.

If you were watching English Premier League football this weekend, you may have spotted Dulux advertising with the domain name, whatwouldyouchange.co.uk. This is interesting because it goes against conventional thinking that a domain must be short in order to be memorable.

It would be fascinating to know how this converted compared to using their standard domain.

Al Gore, a former US vice-president and nobel prize winner (+ self-proclaimed inventor of the internet), is backing a new exension dedicated to websites focused on enviromental issues and climate change.

The proposed extension is .eco.

Having been approached by a large environmental company who were interested in a four letter .org, one wonders if there is any point in adding this new .eco extension when .org does the job adequately.

We are acquiring 'space' related domains. If you have a quality space-related domain for sale, please contact us with the details.

We are particularly looking for space travel and space tourism domains.

The big news of this week is that Toys.com was reauctioned and sold for $5.1 million! A cool $4 million more than the original auction.

02/20/2009

According to Adam Dicker, the owner of DNForum.com, he sold the domain name Forums.com for $399,990.

This is tremendous sale considering the domain will require a massive amount of development and maintenance in order to recoup the sum paid just for the domain.

Our domain news coverage is not exactly 'in-depth', so Nomzo visitors may appreciate a new service provided by DNGator.com. The site compiles all the latest domain news from the top domain websites.

Virtual Network SA is selling some incredible domain names in a rather nonchalant fashion. The names include geo's like Osaka.com and Kosovo.com, and numerous ultra-brandable numeric domains like 22.com and 44.com. The domains are being auctioned on Sedo.

01/29/2009

Last week, we mentioned the auction on Sedo for Top.com. In the end the highest bid was €375,500.

Certainly a good sum of money during these unsteady economic times. But don't be surprised to see the new owners make a tidy profit if they decide to sell in the next few years.

01/23/2009

Surprisingly the reserve price on the auction for Top.com has been met. The current high bid is €101,000. It looks like some one is going to get a bargain, unless the scent of the bargain produces a bidding war. Either way, it's going to be interesting to see the outcome.

Top.com - One of the World's best domains is being auction on Sedo right now. With a current high bid is €55,000, the reserve price has yet to be met, and most likely it is in the high $xxx, xxx to low $x,xxx, xxx vicinity.

Demand for domains is on the rise, or at least the Nomzo Showcase is getting a boom in interested buyers and sellers.

While there is much pessimism on the domain forums due to Worldwide economic problems (and, in a personal opinion, a lack of alcohol consumption) we are glad to report that November was our best month until December came. Now, it looks like January will surpass December!

In a more outward looking news snippet, Sedo seems to be selling 4 letter .com's for 4-figures on a daily basis.

Every domain registrar seems to be running special promotions leading up to Christmas.

NameCheap is giving away thousands of domains on twitter. Name.com is celebrating by offering a different promotion for the 12 days of Christmas. Yesterday, the promo was $6.99 for .org registration and the day before $4.99 for .de.

Look out for more good promos soon!

In the past week there was a big sale of an LL.com:

SC.com sold for $300,000 on Sedo.

This seems like a very good buy and it will be interesting to see if the new owner plans to develop a website.

GoDaddy code which is $0.40 cheaper for .com purchases and renewals than previous codes. Use the code 'yhkw105a' for $7.19 domains!

The goal posts between what is and was is not a trademark domain seems to continously shift, illustrated in this recent WIPO decision.

At Nomzo.com, it's a policy not to allow clear trademark infringing domains to be showcased on our website.
